Conferences

I’ve been interested in speaking at conferences for years, and have decided to finally give it a try. With 10 years of theater and 3 years of teaching behind me, I figured I would be able to pull something off. *shrugs*

PAX Aus (October 30th to November 1st, 2015)

The Anatomy of Story: Making Meaning Interactive Narrative (panel): We discussed different narrative structures and characters in games.
Who Cares About Female Protagonists? (panel): We discussed the importance of female protagonists, what makes a good one, and the related development considerations/challenges.

GCAP (October 27th and 28th, 2015)

“E=mc2” – A Matrix for the Emotional Aspects of Engagement (talk): I presented a tool to facilitate structuring and discussing thoughts on engagement as it applies to players engaging with a game, coworkers engaging with ideas/change, and our own engagement with our career.
Aussie Game Design Challenge 2015 – VS: Virtual Smell (panel): Five designers pitched a game idea based on a theme received a month before the panel.
Chat with Ariel Magnus (fireside chat/interview): I sat down with Ariel Magnus and 15 to 20 GCAP Attendees to discuss interactive narratives.
